Dear Friends and Fans —

Wow — great seeing everyone at Spirit of Beacon Day! Thanks to the hundreds of you who came over to say hi, snap up a campaign button, sign up for BCC’s list of supporters, and generally learn about the movement.

Although we had a strong sense that the time had come for a new community center, the reception we got confirmed it. The parade was beautiful to see, with countless friends and fellow advocates coming past. Mayor Lee Kyriacou did us the honor of stepping out of the lineup to visit our tent and shake hands.

City Officials Update

As we shared with many of you, we’re at a very exciting new moment. After a year and a half of strategy work and meetings with officials, the City has expressed a desire to work with us. Everyone seems to agree that a feasibility study of potential locations, from the current Recreation Center to more centrally located sites, is the next step.

Your Call To Action

We expect a public funding drive will express a broad appetite for everything a community center could offer, from a place to meet up to a space to work out. We’re working out the details with the City but will be in touch with more soon!
